coaching provides young adults with an opportunity to create an
ongoing partnership with themselves and with their coach. Coaching is designed to help
individuals, alone or within diverse groups to produce their own fulfilling results. Coaches help people who are ready,
willing and able to improve their performances and enhance the quality of their
life.
So what do coaches "do?"
Coaches are trained to listen, to observe and to
customize their approach to individual client needs. They seek to elicit
solutions and strategies from the client; they believe the client is
naturally creative and resourceful and has all their answers within. The coach's
job is to provide support to enhance the skills, resources, and creativity that
the client already has.
What do coaches "not" do?
Coaches don't do your work, make up your mind or "counsel" or "therapize"
you. Coaching is not therapy or social work and shouldn't be construed as such.
If you have mental health issues, you should consult with a medical
professional. Please understand these sessions are consultative in nature
and that any actions and decisions are made by you and are solely your
responsibility.
So what do I "do"?
You make a commitment to yourself to "show up." You are
honest. You respect yourself and others. You create an open dialogue with
your group, self and coach. You commit to being fully
present in a 45 to 60 minute long, scheduled, weekly coaching session. The
ensuing conversation, challenges and questions all deal with "you" and getting
to what "you" want in "your" own way. You accept the
challenges assigned you each week and are able to accomplish each one offered...
each step is unique and tailored
by you for you with your coach.
How long will this take?
That is entirely
up to you. Coaching is a process that moves with you at your current skill
and awareness level towards where you have placed your goal(s). Some
clients move through in 4 sessions, some in 12, others in 24.
Depending upon the goal and your readiness to take it on or re-discover you
within it, the timeline is inherently yours.
In individual coaching we
generally commit to a six session start. We re-assess your needs and
progress every six weeks. Coaching is not an indefinite relationship. It
begins and it does end. You are always welcome to come back when and if
you want or need more. |

Go YOUth! coaching takes place on the telephone
or internet at a time and on a day you schedule

How much does this cost?
As you will learn when you begin coaching, not all things are
measured by money. Coaching programs and services through
,
costs you, financially, nothing. While the programs and services are
considered charitable work, you will need to have access to long distance
services, telephone or the internet to communicate weekly with your coach
in your program.
is the services arm of the Gary S. Stevens Foundation (GSSF). The
Foundation asserts and
believes in assisting others who want to "learn to fish" and not be "given
fish." This non-profit 501c3 charitable private operating
foundation allows our services to be provided at no cost to Go-YOUth
participants. If you were to hire an
individual coach, professional services like these would cost anywhere
from $250 to $1250 a month.
The "cost" to you to participate is your ability to consistently
spend your time, energy, ability and belief in yourself with us as we work
toward discovering your goal and getting you on the road and to your goal
destination, to have fun while growing and learning and to celebrate your
uniquely perfect self.
What criteria do I need to meet and how do I
apply?
You need to be between the ages of 16 and 24. You need to
be able to set a schedule of one hour a week to connect with your coach.
You must have access to a telephone, long distance and/or an internet connection
to work with your coach. You must have a goal in mind.
To apply, fill out the application form and write a brief
essay about what you want to be coached through and how it might impact your
life if you accomplished it... then submit it to us. It's that simple.
Then what?
Then we'll be in contact with you via the email address or phone
number you've left us. We'll set up a phone interview to answer a
few of your questions and ask a few more of our own. From there, you'll be
asked to take 48 hours to determine if its a course of action you'd like to
undertake. The emphasis is on the word undertake because what you are
asking to work on is changing or transitioning your life. This is not a
small decision to consider and your readiness is a serious piece of this first
step.
If you are selected and have determined that it's a green light
GO, we'll set up a day of the week and time of
day to begin to assist you in managing the gap that exists between where you are
and where you'd rather be.
